The 7 deadly myths of reading

There is a lot of knowledge out there in the world. We have to continuously seek out knowledge. I found that reading faster is better and more effective. This is known as speed reading.

During the process of speed reading, your mind switches from the auditory side of the mind to visual side of the mind. So it would be like watching  a movie because your mind will interpret one paragraph as a whole. Reading the regular way is when your mind hears the words than looking at words as a whole. The auditory part of the mind compare to the visual right side of the mind is smaller. The auditory side of your mind is basically the regular way of reading. I was told that U.S. reading levels are low compare to other countries. I feel like once you have foundation of reading, then you can learn more and discover what really behind that wall of yours. Therefore, here are the myths that will help you to read in a proficient way:

1. Reading a book is the same as learning the material in that book
2. slower reading speeds improve comprehension
3. you need to read everything at the same speed
4. you need to read one word at a time
5. you must read the whole book in sequence to understand it
6. you should never use a pen or finger as a guide during reading
7. you must stop look up a word if you don't understand it (it will throw your concentration off if you do and waste more time doing so)
