12 Tips on How to Drive A Manual Transmission car (Stick Shift)

You ever thought about driving stick shift (manual)? Well I am here to give you a few facts to get started driving stick. I feel it will make you a better driver in general. You become more together with your car. It is just being ONE with your vehicle. It is like a Dragonball Z fusion (lol). Overall, you will be more active while you are driving manual transmission car. Therefore, take a look at the tips and links below. Take Care

9 TIPS (Side note: these tips are not in any order):

  1. If you are at a quick stop sign, it is ok to leave it in 1st gear.
  2. If you are sitting 30 to 45 seconds at a stop light, you are going to want to put the car in neutral and let the clutch out.
  3. The lower the RPMs, generally the better the gas mileage
  4. The higher the RPMs, the more power you will have
  5. 550 HP engine is capable of burning more fuel fast
  6. 1st GEAR = 0 mph to 5-15 mph
  7. 2nd//3rd GEAR = Main Gear for "CITY" cruising
  8. 4th GEAR = Higher speed roads of 40 mph
  9. 5th//6TH GEAR = For the highway speeds 
  10. If you hold the clutch in too long (while not pressing the gas); the RPMs will drop all the way to idle speed (roughly 1,000 RPMs). You want the RPMs to drop a little while upshifting but not all the way to 1,000 RPMs
  11. Keep RPMs above 1000 RPM 
  12. Never go slow in a higher gear
