Eating Peanuts Early on Reduces Allergy Risk

...

According to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine, this study might have some solutions to reversing the peanut allergy. So, "Researchers found that introducing peanuts during early childhood can actually decrease the risk of developing a peanut allergy later in life". Therefore, the study followed around 640 children with high risk of food allergies; this began with children between the ages of 4 to 11 months old. Within those 640 kids, half were fed peanuts and half were not. These children were tested for senitivities to peanuts before the experiment began and towards the end of the study with 5 years.

In Summary, the study found that 14% of children who avoided peanuts had a peanut allergy at the end of 5 years. This is 7 times more than the 2% of kids that were fed peanuts plus shown following a sensitivity.
